New Delhi : On Thursday, Northeast Rhinos defeated Odisha Warriors 4-3 in the fourth place in the Big Bout Indian Boxing League (IBL) at Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium Complex. Rhinos playing without Nikhat Zarine benefited from Jasurbek Latipov's disqualification. The team from Northeast wanted to finish in third place but due to not winning the last two matches, they have remained in fourth place with 11 points. Gujarat Giants are in first place with 14 points while Odisha has 13 points in four matches. Punjab Panthers team is third with 12 points. Rhinos benefited when Jasurbek Latipov was disqualified for putting a wrong punch against Laldin Mavia in a 52kg contest. Laldin Mavia was on the backfoot. Latipov of Uzbekistan were in a winning position after two rounds but in their quest for a knockout, Latipov punched below the waist and dropped Laldin. The judges then disqualified Latipov, 28, without delay in consultation with the referee. This doubled Rhinos' lead as Pilao Basuatari opened the account of Rhinos defeating Sandhya Rani in the first match. In the men's 69 kg, Mandeep Jangra defeated Jakhangir Rakhmonov for his third consecutive victory. Odisha's education slightly increased the wait for Rhinos to beat Meenakshi in the women's 51 kg category. But Francisco Veron defeated Rhinos to win Odisha's Pramod Kumar. Odisha won both the last matches. Satinder Singh defeated Virender of Rhinos while Mohammed Ibrahim defeated Mohammad Itash to help Odisha remain in third place.
