New Delhi: Thesedays people are very active on social media, the central government is gearing up to address a lot of criticism on social media about the arbitrariness of people. That means so far, the government has prepared a draft to crack down on the arbitrariness of posting anything on social media. The Government is coming up with measures to regulate it. The tightening is expected after July next month. According to the draft, the rules framed for social media are being amended. In addition, a Grievance Appellate Committee will also be constituted to deal with complaints and consider appeals filed against the decisions of the officers. A general notification has also been issued to amend the Information Technology Rules 2021. As per the draft notification, this committee will have to dispose of the complaint within 30 days of receipt of the appeal. The decision will apply to companies across all social media platforms including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp. Twitter has from time to time closed the accounts of several users, including famous celebrities, citing alleged violations of community guidelines. In such a situation, this step of the government is considered important. The Central Government will constitute one or more committees regarding the draft notification. The committee will have one head and other members. Users can file an appeal against the grievance officers. The Ministry of Information Technology has invited advice and objections from the general public in this regard by June 22.
