New Delhi: In the wake of train services being disrupted and property damaged in some parts of the country during protests against the 'Agneepath' scheme launched by the Central government for the three services, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Saturday said the government will work towards further strengthening the Railways Act to protect railway property.

At a TV Global Summit, the Railway Minister also urged the protesters not to take the law into their hands. "The government will listen to all your concerns and they will be addressed. There has been fierce violence and violence in Bihar and other states against the 'Agneepath' scheme introduced by the Centre for recruitment in the armed forces on a short-term basis. More than 340 trains were affected on Friday during the protests and more than seven trains were burnt down.

Vaishnav further said, "We have to understand that the railways is your own property and it provides service to the section which cannot afford flights and where flight services do not exist. "I think the Railway Act needs to be further strengthened and we will work on it so that railway property can be protected in a better way." '
