Delhi Police Commissioner to continue as Major Relief to Rakesh Asthana from Delhi High Court

New Delhi: The Delhi High Court has given a clean chit to the appointment of Rakesh Asthana (Rakesh Asthana) as Delhi Police Commissioner. The Delhi High Court has rejected a petition challenging rakesh asthana's appointment. The high court's decision has brought relief to the Central government, Delhi Police and Commissioner Rakesh Asthana. Because rakesh asthana will now continue as delhi police commissioner.

Former Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi, appearing for Rakesh Asthana during a hearing before a bench of Delhi High Court Chief Justice DN Patel and Justice Jyoti Singh, had said that the PIL is not a genuine PIL. The petitioner is a proxy and there is no other behind this PIL. Mukul Rohatgi in his plea said that the Supreme Court has clearly laid down guidelines for filing PIL and these conditions have not been fulfilled in the case. The apex court had specifically expressed its need for them in cases where public interest litigation could cause some 'public harm'.

Rohatgi further said where is the loss to the people in appointing this officer?  There are vested interests behind this petition. The petition should be dismissed with an extraordinary fine. He said personal vengeance is being taken in the matter by Prashant Bhushan. Rohatgi said Prakash Singh's decision in the case cannot be implemented as Prakash Singh deals with appointments of DGP states and Delhi is not a full state.
