9 killed in Pipa bridge accident, CM Nitish announces 4 lakh compensation to each

Patna: A major accident took place on Friday at Pipa Bridge in Danapur adjoining Patna, the capital of Bihar. Nine people lost their lives when a passenger train fell from the bridge into the River Ganga. CM Nitish Kumar has expressed deep grief over the loss of so many lives in the accident. Cm Nitish has expressed his condolences to the family members of the deceased and said, "This incident is very sad and I am saddened by this incident."

CM Nitish has directed immediate compensation of Rs 4 lakh each to the dependents of those killed in the accident. At the same time, CM Nitish has prayed to God to give the bereaved families the strength to be patient in this hour of grief. On Friday morning, a jeep carrying more than 12 passengers from Danapur to Diyara met with an accident on the Pipa Bridge. The jeep broke the railing of the bridge and fell into the river Ganga. Hundreds of people gathered at the spot after the incident. The incident was reported to the police.

Police rushed to the spot after receiving information about the accident and started searching for the jeep occupants. Regarding the incident, Patna district collector said that the jeep sank in Ganga around 9.15 pm. The search started after the incident and 9 bodies have been fished out by deep divers of SDRF from the jeep. According to the DM, the jeep had gone about 25 feet down in the water. In that case, the jeep was brought to the surface. SDRF divers Ct Lalan and SI Ashok Yadav are searching for people.
