Saharsa: One child has been reported to have died after routine vaccination in Simribakhtiyarpur block area of Saharsa district of Bihar. While another child is undergoing treatment at Sadar Hospital. Both children are said to have twins. Following the incident, the affected families accused them of negligence in vaccination and placed the body of the child on the porch of Simribakhtiyarpur sub-divisional hospital and staged a fierce protest and sloganeering against the health department. The family members of the deceased child said that the child had fever for three days and the child was taken to Anganwadi Centre by ASHA worker for vaccination. The family said that even after being told about the children's fever, Asha Didi said that there is nothing wrong with the child. After which both twins were vaccinated. But when he returned home after vaccination, the health of both the children deteriorated late at night. The children were immediately brought to the sub-divisional hospital for treatment. While one child died, the other child was referred to Sadar Hospital for better treatment. The family alleges that the child had a fever before, after which the child was further impatient and died due to vaccination. The family has demanded an inquiry into the case and action against the erring health worker.
