NEW DELHI: Since the Modi government has revoked Section 370 of the Constitution granting special statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, there has been a series of rhetoric on the issue, some supporting the government's decision, and some are protesting. Boxer Vijender Singh has now supported the government's decision to remove Section 370 from the Valley. In a tweet, he said, after the removal of 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, the sun of progress has risen, in the light of which the whole of India is feeling proud.

Vijender Singh, who was a Congress candidate from South Delhi in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, said in a tweet, "I have always been a country in favour of a constitution. 370 had raised doubts in the minds of the countrymen whether Kashmir is an integral part of India or not. This doubt is now emptifies. The sun of progress has risen in Jammu and Kashmir, in the light of which the whole of India is feeling proud. "

There are two splits in the Congress over the abrogation of Section 370 from the Valley. Several veteran Congress leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, P Chidambaram, have targeted the Modi government over Section 370. Describing it as a dark day in India's constitutional history, former Union Minister P Chidambaram cautioned that every party should wake up all parties on the issue as it can be tried on other states also, dissolving the state government and imposing President's rule.
