Islamabad: Pakistan has made a big announcement on the occasion of Eid, citing Kashmiris. The Pakistani Media Regulatory Authority has asked local media institutions not to broadcast live programmes or special events already recorded on Eid-ul-Azha, as it "can hurt not only our nation but also the sentiments of the Kashmiri brothers."
In a notification issued on Saturday, the regulatory authority said that "to show solidarity with Kashmir, Eid-ul-Azha is being celebrated with simplicity as a religious festival. Therefore, it is requested that there should be no special program (already recorded or planned live). It can hurt not only our nation but also the sentiments of the Kashmiri brothers as eid celebrations are broadcast as a celebration."
According to the newspaper Pakistan Today, the notification said that Pakistan's Independence Day will be celebrated on August 14 in a show of solidarity with the brave Kashmiris. The regulatory authority has said that India's Independence Day will be celebrated as Black Day on August 15 and the national flag will be half tilted on this day.
