Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will visit flood-hit Kerala On Sunday. He will review the assistance being provided in relief camps in his Lok Sabha constituency, Wayanad, which is currently one of the worst districts in the state. Rahul Gandhi is on his way to Kerala and will reach Kerala by 2.20 pm. Earlier, on Twitter, Rahul Gandhi said, "For the next few days, I will be in my Lok Sabha constituency, Wayanad, which has been devastated by floods. In addition, Chief Minister Pinarai Vijayan had said that Wayanad was the most affected district in the state and he estimated that about 11 people had died in the district alone due to the floods. "There were accidents in unexpected areas," Vijayan said during a press conference. There have been 80 landslides in different parts of the state. Puthumala in Malappuram, Kavallappra, Bhutlam Colony and Wayanad have been badly affected.

On Friday, the state government said that at about 28 people were killed and 27 others were injured due to incessant rains and flooding of rivers. "The statewide 28 people have lost their lives and another 27 have sustained injuries after heavy rains, creating flood like situation in the state," the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) said in a statement. Seven people have gone missing so far.
