Kerala government failed to take action against terrorism: BJP

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala unit chief of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) K Surendran said on Saturday that the state governments had failed to take action against terrorism. He said this in the context of the arrest of nine terrorists of the terrorist organization Al Qaeda in Bengal and Kerala by the National Investigation Agency (NIA). Three of them have been arrested from Ernakulam in Kerala.

Surendran said that the anti-terrorist squad in Kerala is completely dysfunctional and successive governments have failed to tackle the menace of terrorism. We have seen some cases in the past in which terrorists have been arrested from our state. What has happened in Ernakulam is the most recent incident. It is now learned that there was a WhatsApp group in the police, which was helping people involved in terrorist activities. He said that a police officer was suspended on charges of leaking police e-mail. It was restored by this government. This can only happen in Kerala.

Let us tell you that NIA has arrested nine terrorists from Bengal and Kerala by conducting raids on Friday night. Of these, six were arrested from Murshidabad in Bengal and three from Ernakulam in Kerala. Initial investigations have revealed that these terrorists were projected on social media as hardliners by Pakistan-based Al Qaeda terrorists.
