Rahul Gandhi: BJP will never win in Tamil Nadu, party showed results of body elections

Chennai: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is in the seventh heavens after its lead in Tamil Nadu's body elections. After the recent protest, the BJP has lashed out at former Congress national president Rahul Gandhi. In fact, Rahul Gandhi in his speech in Parliament had said that the BJP can never rule in Tamil Nadu. Reminding of his statement, the BJP has now hit back.

The BJP has said that the results of the recent elections have changed this perception of Congress. After the DMK and the AIADMK, the BJP has now emerged as the third-largest party ahead of Congress. The BJP has also won in areas where it had never won before. In the recently held body elections, the BJP has won 230 Nagar panchayat wards, 56 municipal wards and 22 municipal wards, including one ward of the Greater Chennai Corporation. At the same time, in more than 20 wards, the BJP finished second only to the DMK. Tamil Nadu BJP unit president K Annamalai claimed that the BJP has emerged as the third-largest party after the DMK and the AIADMK.

Reacting to the protest, BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya tweeted, "Just a few days ago, Rahul Gandhi had predicted in Parliament that the BJP will never rule Tamil Nadu. I hope the ULB elections have taken them away from such notions. After the DMK and the AIADMK, the BJP is now the third-largest party ahead of Congress. The BJP won in areas where it had never won."
