UP Rajya Sabha elections: BJP candidate Jayaprakash files nomination

Lucknow : BJP candidate Jayaprakash Nishad on Thursday filed his nomination in the presence of CM Yogi Adityanath for the by-election to the Rajya Sabha seat vacant after the death of Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Beni Prasad Verma. Today is the last day to file nomination for the Rajya Sabha by-election. Jayaprakash Nishad's election to be elected unopposed is considered certain. Voting will take place on 24th August.

Please tell that Jayaprakash Nishad's term as a Rajya Sabha member will be till 5 May 2022. He is the vice president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) from Gorakhpur region. In 2012, he was elected MLA from Chaurichora assembly seat on Nishad Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) ticket. He has also lived in SP. Jayaprakash joined BJP in 2018. Before the 2022 assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, opposition parties are trying to woo the Brahmin votes.

For this, the war of words has started in SP and BSP for the installation of Lord Parshuram's statue. Meanwhile, the BJP has taken forward the strategy of strengthening the hold in the most backward in Purvanchal by playing bets on Jayaprakash Nishad. Let us tell you that the population of the Nishad community in Uttar Pradesh is around 14 percent, which has a lot of influence on Gorakhpur and some assembly seats nearby.
