BJP Confident of Forming Govt in Haryana for the Third Time, Says Shehzad Poonawalla

As election results for Haryana began to solidify, BJP leader Shehzad Poonawalla expressed confidence that the party is set to form the government in Haryana for the third consecutive time. He highlighted the strong public support for the party’s work over the past decade.

Poonawalla said, “It’s clear that this is a victory for India’s democratic traditions. I hope those who were excited by the exit polls will not blame EVMs now that the actual results are in. The BJP has already formed the government twice in Haryana, and we’re about to do it again. This reflects the trust people have placed in the BJP's work.”

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Saini echoed similar sentiments, asserting that the final results would favor the BJP. He remarked, "The BJP has worked tirelessly for Haryana's development over the past ten years. We've served all sections of society with honesty, unlike the Congress, which has been involved in corruption. We are confident that the BJP will form the government in Haryana for the third time."

Senior party leader Anil Vij, contesting from Ambala Cantt, pointed out internal tensions within Congress, stating, “They’re celebrating prematurely because many within the Congress want Bhupinder Singh Hooda to lose. Regardless, I will respect the public mandate, and if the high command decides, I am ready to serve as Chief Minister.”

As per the Election Commission’s data at 10 AM, the BJP was leading in 43 seats, while the Congress was ahead in 34. The counting process was underway in most constituencies, with 1 to 4 rounds completed by that time.
