Maharashtra: BJP core committee meeting ends, decision to form government may be made by evening

Mumbai: Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari has invited BJP to emerge as the largest party in Maharashtra assembly elections. In view of this, the BJP is engaged in discussing the political situation and exploring the possibility of forming a government. The BJP's core committee meeting, which started at 1.30 pm today, has ended. It is possible that a decision will be taken to form the government by the evening.

Earlier, the state governor on Saturday evening invited the BJP to form the government and asked if it was willing and able to form the government. The Governor took this step just four hours before the term of the state assembly ends at midnight. According to a statement, "The governor today asked Devendra Fadnavis, the leader of the elected members of the largest party BJP, to tell if his party is willing and able to form a government in Maharashtra?"

The governor, being the largest party in the state, has asked the BJP about forming the government. If the BJP moves towards forming a government, it will have to prove its majority. It is being told that in the core committee meeting held today, the BJP has discussed whether it is ready for the invitation to form the government or not.
