New Delhi: The BJP has alleged that the Congress and other opposition parties do "vulture politics" over dead bodies and they only want to disturb harmony in the society. The BJP issued a statement late last night in response to the joint statement of the opposition parties on the recent incidents of hate speech and communal violence in the country. Let us tell you that the opposition had attacked PM Narendra Modi for his 'silence.' BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia compared the opposition's targeting of PM Modi to the mud-slinging of the sky. Gaurav Bhatia questioned Congress President Sonia Gandhi over the Karauli violence in Rajasthan and alleged that action is not being taken against the rioters because of her party's appeasement politics. He alleged that Rahul Gandhi was standing with the rioters and trying to provoke them. It may be recalled that 13 opposition parties had issued a joint statement on Saturday condemning communalism in the country. Leaders of opposition parties said that attempts are being made to polarise over food, dress, religious belief, festival and language. What is more worrisome is that those who give hate speech have got government protection. Congress President Sonia Gandhi, Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee, NCP Supremo Sharad Pawar, Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, RJD chief Tejashwi Yadav, CPM General Secretary Sitaram Yechury, CPI leader D Raja, Forward Bloc's Devvrat Vishwas, RSP's Manoj Bhattacharya, Muslim League's Kup's Kunhalikutty and CPI (ML) Liberation's Dipankar Bhattacharya have signed the joint statement. Violence broke out in Delhi's Jahangirpuri area on Saturday when stones were pelted at a procession being taken out on the occasion of Hanuman Janmotsav. Then, there was a clash between the two communities. Seven persons were injured in the incident, including six policemen.
