Subramanian Swamy's big statement says Mamata should be made Congress President

New Delhi: Veteran BJP leader Subramanian Swamy has questioned his own party. Swamy took to Twitter and wrote, "After looking at Goa and Kashmir, I think if we remain with the BJP as the same party, the country's democracy will be weakened."

Instructing the Congress, The Trinamool Congress (TMC) and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), Subramanian Swamy said, "The opposition Italians and children should be asked to withdraw from the party. Mamata Banerjee then became the President of the United Congress. The NCP should also merge with the Congress," he said.

It may be noted that Subramanian Swamy often makes headlines about his statements. His tweet comes at a time when the opposition is attacking the BJP over political developments in Goa and Karnataka. In fact, the Congress had 15 MLAs in the Goa Assembly. With 10 MLAs joining the BJP, it has five MLAs left. In Karnataka, the Congress-JDS government is in danger of losing power after some MLAs have taken a rebel stand.

The Congress is putting the BJP in the dock over the developments in Karnataka and Goa. In the Upper House, Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad had also accused the BJP and its leaders of not bothering about the Constitution. Ghulam Nabi Azad had said, "It seems that the BJP government has come to power only to eliminate secularism, democracy and opposition.
