Lucknow: There is a demand to rename another city in Uttar Pradesh. Bjp MLA Dinesh Chaudhary of Kerakat BJP in Jaunpur district of the state has demanded that the district be renamed after Lord Parshuram's father Maharshi Jamdagni. MLA has written to CM Yogi Adityanath for the same. According to Chaudhary, the old name of the district was Jamdagnipuram, but in the 13th century, Mughal invader Mohammed bin Tughlaq changed its name to Jaunpur after his brother Juna Khan. Dinesh Chaudhary has attacked the opposition in the matter saying that the opposition is doing a lot to capture the Brahmin votes in the state, but in the name of Maharishi Jamdagni, father of Brahmin Shiromani Lord Parshuram, everyone is silent. That is why they now demand that Jaunpur be renamed back to Jamdagnipuram. In a letter to CM Yogi, Dinesh Chaudhary has said that the naming of several cities in the state has made Indian culture and nationalism proud. According to the report, Jamaitha is situated on the banks of the holy Ganga and Gomti river in Sadar tehsil of the district, where the ashram of Maharishi Jamdagni, the father of Lord Parshuram, is still located and people worship here. At the same time, there is a temple of Mother Renuka (mother of Lord Parshuram) where devotees offer prayers.
