The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has released its second list of 21 candidates for the upcoming Haryana Assembly Elections 2024. Among the prominent candidates, Captain Yogesh Bairagi has been fielded to contest against Congress candidate Vinesh Phogat for the Julana Assembly seat. In other key contests, the BJP has chosen Naseem Ahmed and Aizaz Khan to represent the Ferozepur Jhirka and Punahana constituencies, respectively, while Pradeep Sangwan will contest from the Baroda constituency. Earlier, the BJP had announced its first list of 67 candidates, including Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, who will contest from the Ladwa constituency. Previously, Saini represented the Karnal Assembly seat, winning it in a bypoll earlier this year. Another notable candidate, senior party leader Anil Vij, will once again contest from the Ambala Cantonment seat, where he has secured victory three consecutive times since 2009. In a related development, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has revised the polling schedule for the Haryana Assembly elections. Initially set for October 1, the polling day has been moved to October 5, 2024. The counting of votes for both Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana will now take place on October 8. This adjustment was made to respect the traditions of the Bishnoi community, who observe the Asoj Amavasya festival during that period.
