Bomb Scare on Delhi to Vishakhapatnam Flight Turns Out to Be a Hoax

NEW DELHI: A suspected bomb threat on an Air India flight traveling from Delhi to Vishakhapatnam was revealed to be a false alarm on Wednesday, following a thorough investigation by authorities.

The Director of Visakhapatnam Airport, Raja Reddy, reported that the Air India station security in charge received a threat alert concerning flight AI-471 from Delhi to Vishakhapatnam. The initial threat call was made by a passenger in Delhi and was relayed to Delhi Police. The police then informed Air India security officials, who promptly alerted their counterparts in Vishakhapatnam.

Upon landing at Visakhapatnam Airport, the aircraft underwent a detailed inspection by Air India security personnel and a team from the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). After an exhaustive search, no threats were found on the plane.

Following the completion of all necessary security procedures, the aircraft was cleared for boarding passengers bound for Delhi.

Meanwhile, Delhi police are actively working to identify and apprehend the passenger responsible for the false alarm.

A few days ago, A Hyderabad-bound IndiGo flight from Jabalpur was  diverted to Nagpur due to a bomb threat. The airline reported that flight 6E-7308 was rerouted after a note containing a bomb threat was found in the aircraft’s washroom. Following an extensive search by security agencies, no suspicious items were discovered.

Another incident reported in August, a full emergency was declared at Thiruvananthapuram International Airport after an Air India flight from Mumbai received a bomb threat. The flight, carrying 135 passengers, landed safely at around 8 am and was later moved to an isolation bay for further inspection.
