BGT2023, IND vs AUS: India beat Kangaroos by an inning and 132 runs

New Delhi: India has won the first match of the ongoing Border Gavaskar Trophy between India and Australia by an innings and 132 runs. With this victory, India has taken a 1-0 lead in the four-Test series. Actually, Australia was bowled out in the first innings in Nagpur at 177 runs. In response, Team India scored 400 runs and took a lead of 223 runs. But, in the second innings also the Kangaroo team was bowled out for just 91 runs and lost the match by an inning and 132 runs.

Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja, who tricked the batsmen with their spin bowling in Australia's first innings, also played an important role in wrapping up the Kangaroo team's second innings. In the second innings, Ashwin sent 5 Australian batsmen to the pavilion, while Jadeja got 2 wickets. Apart from this, Mohammad Shami got 2 and Akshar Patel got 1 wicket. Warner (10), Labushane (17), Steve Smith (25) and Alex Carey (10) could only reach double figures in Australia's second innings.   

Earlier, India scored 400 runs in their first innings on the back of Rohit Sharma's brilliant century (120), Ravindra Jadeja (70) and Akshar Patel (84). Due to this India got a lead of 223 runs. Now the next Test match between the two teams will be played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi from 17 February.
