BREAKING! Bomb Threat on Air Canada Flight from Delhi to Toronto Turns Out to Be Hoax

New Delhi: An Air Canada flight bound for Toronto caused panic at Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport after an email claimed a bomb was on board. Officials confirmed on Wednesday that the threat was a hoax.

The Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) office received the alarming email at 10:50 pm on Tuesday, stating that a bomb had been planted on the Air Canada flight from Delhi to Toronto. In response, authorities swiftly implemented standard security procedures to ensure the safety of all passengers and crew.

A senior police officer reported that a comprehensive inspection of the aircraft was conducted. "Following standard security protocols, a thorough inspection was conducted, and nothing suspicious was found," the officer said.

Legal action is being pursued in connection with the false threat, according to officials.

As part of its winter schedule, Air Canada on June 4 announced the addition of a new seasonal trip from Calgary to Delhi via London Heathrow and a new non-stop daily service from Toronto to Mumbai. With this expansion, the Canadian flag carrier will operate 25 flights each week to and from India. This winter, Air Canada will fly 25 times a week from Canada to India, providing 7,400 seats weekly overall.
