Tragic accident: Brother- Sister dies after car falling in canal

Ropar: Due to the increasing crime and incidents of the day, there is no one who is not disturbed in the present day. Recently there was a death of a brother and sister in the Bhakra Canal near village Alowal in Ropar district. The car driver saved his life by swimming. The accident occurred due to the deterioration of the balance of the car around 2.30 pm on Saturday. Fauji Sukhwinder Singh, who came out of the canal, told that he was going from village Ghanuli to Alowal after sitting his father Harbans Singh and aunt Geeta Devi in a car.

According to the information received, the balance of the car on the bank of the canal was disturbed. This caused the car to fall into the canal. Dashmesh Colony Ghanouli, a resident of Sukhwinder Singh, the constable of 8 Sikhli Regiment posted in Jalandhar, said that his father Harbans Singh was suffering from the disease of stone and he had come to his house. He started getting pain, due to which he started to relax.

His aunt Geeta Devi, wife Ram Dayal resident Baddi (Himachal Pradesh) also came to his house. He was taking both in an Indigo car and taking them to village Alwal. Meanwhile, his brother Pradeep Singh was also going ahead on the bike. The balance of the car on the bank of the Bhakra canal deteriorated and the uncontrollable car fell into the canal. Sukhwinder Singh told that the driver's side mirror of the car was open. Due to this, he got out as soon as the car fell into the canal and his aunt Geeta Devi, who was sitting on the accompanying seat, also fell. He tried to take her out. Aunt Geeta Devi first insisted on taking out her brother Harbans Singh. He could not get both out. Sukhwinder Singh told that as the car was flowing in the strong current of water, he swam and came out of the canal. Police also reached the spot after getting information about the incident. With the help of divers, they started searching for both. Late evening, the bodies and cars of both were also taken out of the canal. Harbans Singh used to work in the thermal plant.
