BSNL can retrench 20 thousand employees from the job, this is the reason

New Delhi: Sword is hanging on the job of 20 thousand employees of the government telecom company BSNL. The employees union said that BSNL has ordered all its units to curb the expenses of the hired employees. This can lead to the job of 20,000 workers connected to BSNL through contractors. The union claims that 30,000 employees have already been fired due to the company's policy. All of them have not been paid for more than a year.

On September 1, BSNL wrote a letter to all its Chief General Managers instructing them to cut the contract workers' expenses, which also asked them to cut the labors being brought through the contractors. The chairman said clearly that he should prepare a clear blueprint for this. He said that in most of the circles there is no need for staff like housekeeping, security, hired after the commencement of cluster best work.

The union has sent a letter to BSNL chairman and managing director PK Purwar saying that after the implementation of voluntary retirement (VRS), the company's financial condition has deteriorated. In many cities, the network has gone awry due to shortage of staff. The union said that even after VRS, BSNL is not able to give salary to its employees on time. The union said that 13 contract workers have committed suicide due to non-payment for the last 14 months.
