BSP chief Mayawati raises old pension scheme issue, targets central government

Lucknow: The issue of the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) has been raised vigorously during the elections for some time now. Congress had also made this an issue in the Himachal Pradesh elections and promised to implement OPS after forming the government. The Congress governments of Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan had also talked about implementing it. At the same time, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati has also raised the issue of OPS and attacked the BJP government in the Centre and UP.

Former CM of UP and BSP supremo Mayawati has written in a tweet that due to the increasing inflation affecting the lives of the common people as well as government employees across the country, there is a need to implement the old pension scheme in various states, including the Centre and UP. The demand of BSP is continuously gaining momentum, which needs to be resolved, this is the demand of BSP.

Mayawati further wrote that, in this sequence, along with inflation, it is necessary for the Centre and the UP government to work with the right intention and policy towards the complex problems of poverty, unemployment, backwardness, etc. Such public problems are not solved by speeches, especially when the public is doubly troubled by the double-engine government in UP. A solution is necessary.
