New Delhi: The budget session 2022-23, which will run in two phases till April 8, will begin today. Preparations have been completed for this budget session to be held during the crisis period of the corona epidemic, the officials of parliament have taken several measures to avoid corona infection. Apart from this, RT-PCR testing has also been said to be done 48 hours before the budget session.
Officials on Sunday indicated that if the pandemic situation improves from now on before the second phase of the session between March 14 and April 8, the timing of the session in March will return to normal in March. Upper House Chairman Venkaiah Naidu and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla met on Sunday evening to take stock of the final preparations for the session, which is the longest of three sessions in a calendar year.
According to an office-bearer present at the meeting, a limited number of MPs will sit in their original seats, the rest will sit in the gallery, some will sit in the other House. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla suggested that members of both the Houses may be made to sit at different places by name to avoid confusion, crowding and enquiries. The Secretaries-General of both the Houses will approach the parties to finalize the seating arrangements for MPs. Seats will be allotted in the chambers and galleries of both the Houses depending on the number of party members.
