Kolkata: Former India captain and former BCCI chief Sourav Ganguly's bungalow at Lower Rodan Street in Kolkata is going to be demolished soon. Sourav Ganguly himself has sought permission from the Kolkata Municipal Corporation to demolish the two-story house. In May 2022, Ganguly bought this bungalow for Rs 40 crore. The handover of this property was in the headlines in the city. Ganguly is currently living in Behala, Kolkata and now it is believed that after the construction of the new bungalow, his address in Kolkata will change. Eight months after the handover, 'Dada' recently wrote a letter to the Director General of the KMC Building Department. Ganguly informed about the demolition of the two-story building and sought permission for the same. The application was sent to the executive engineer of Kolkata Municipal Corporation's Borough 8 along with a note seeking permission to break it. The senior official admitted that "We have received an application from the owner of 8/1A Lower Rodan Street to demolish the building located on a huge 23.6 Katha plot. We need to monitor the demolition process to ensure that proper pollution guidelines are being followed during the demolition process." Former captain Ganguly has bought a two-story bungalow on 8/1A Lower Roden Street. Its carpet area is about 10,000 square feet and a huge lawn is spread over 7,200-8,000 square feet. The bungalow also has an outhouse, a covered garage for cars, and a paved driveway. An official of the KMC building department said they were waiting for a detailed building plan from the Ganguly family after demolishing the bungalow. This is a very busy area of Kolkata.
