New Delhi: Farmers' Day is celebrated at different times in different countries of the world. National Farmers Day is celebrated on 23 December in India. This day is also the birthday of former Prime Minister of India Chaudhary Charan Singh. Charan Singh did a lot of work to improve the condition of farmers in India and that is why his birthday was chosen for National Farmers Day. Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has paid tribute to the former PM. The Defense Minister wrote in a tweet, "I remember and salute Chaudhary Charan Singh Ji, the former PM and the foremost among the most respected farmer leaders of the country, on the occasion of his birth anniversary. Mr Chaudhary continued to give voice to the problems of farmers for a lifetime and worked for their welfare. The country will always remember his contribution." Chaudhary Charan Singh wanted that the income of farmers of the country should increase, their crops should get remunerative prices and the honour of farmers should be protected. He further wrote, "Our PM Narendra Modi is taking many steps in the interest of farmers only because of his inspiration. They will not let the farmers get hurt under any circumstances. Today, on the occasion of Farmers Day, I greet all the grain providers of the country. He has provided the country with food security. Some farmers are agitating about agricultural laws. The government is talking to them with full sensitivity. I hope that they will withdraw their movement soon.
