Srinagar: After the removal of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir and the formation of Union Territory, for the first time any kind of elections have been conducted in a peaceful manner. The results of the Zilla Vikas Parishad (DDC) election were declared on Tuesday, in which the Gupakar alliance has carved its flag in the Kashmir Valley and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the Jammu region.

However, the good news for the BJP is that it has opened its account in the Kashmir Valley as well. Talking about the party, the BJP has emerged as the largest party. As per the final results, BJP has won a total of 74 seats while the Guptakar alliance has won 101 seats. The Gupakar coalition includes the National Conference and some other parties including the People's Democratic Party (PDP).

After the election results, former Jammu and Kashmir CM Mehbooba Mufti attacked the Center. Mehbooba said that the people of Kashmir have voted in favour of the group and the way the Center has wrongly removed Section 370 has been completely rejected. National Conference leader Omar Abdullah said that we did not make these elections a referendum, nor did we campaign much. Nevertheless, people have supported us, BJP has won the best in only a few identified districts.
