New Delhi: If you have not yet linked your PAN card with Aadhaar number. So there is something for you to be happy as well as a little disappointed. The government has extended the last date of this work for a year, but now this service will not be available for 'free'. The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), the apex policy-making body for the Income Tax Department, has extended the last date for linking PAN-Aadhaar by a full year to March 31, 2023. CBDT has also issued a notification regarding this late in the evening on Wednesday. According to this, the time period for linking Aadhaar with the PAN card has been extended till 31 March 2023 to reduce the inconvenience to the taxpayers. It is noteworthy that this is the fourth time when the government has extended the last date for linking PAN card with Aadhaar. For those whose PAN card has not been linked with Aadhaar till now, after this new arrangement of CBDT, the PAN card will continue to work without any hindrance till March 31, 2023. Thus, from filing an income tax returns to getting a refund, it can be used as before. Till now taxpayers were not required to pay any money for this work. But now this 'free service' has been stopped. In such a situation, if a taxpayer gets his PAN-Aadhaar link between 1 April 2022 to 30 June 2022, then he will have to pay a fee of Rs 500 and after that a fee of Rs 1,000.
