New Delhi: From 12 pm on Thursday, travel on the national highway will become costlier. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has increased the toll tax from Rs 10 to Rs 65. For smaller trains, it has been increased from Rs 10 to Rs 15 and for commercial vehicles, it has been increased by Rs 65. From April 1, you have to loosen your pockets more to travel on the highway.

On the expressway, starting from Sarai Kale Khan and up to Kashi toll plaza, the toll tax for light motor vehicles like cars and jeeps will have to be paid at Rs 155 instead of Rs 140. The new price of Rasoolpur Sikroad Plaza from Sarai Kale Khan will be Rs.100 and that of Bhojpur will be Rs.130. For all types of vehicles, it has been increased by 10-15 percent.

At present, 6 National Highways are connected to Lucknow. One of these, Hardoi highway, is yet to have a toll. The toll rates on the Sitapur highway will change from October. But to go to Kanpur, Ayodhya, Rae Bareli and Sultanpur, the toll tax will have to be paid more. The new rates will come into effect from tonight. On the Lucknow-Rae Bareli highway (Dakhina Sheikhpur Plaza), now small private vehicles will have to pay Rs 105, while a bus truck will have to pay Rs 360 for two axles. Similarly, on the Lucknow-Ayodhya Highway (Nawabganj Plaza), now one has to pay Rs 110 for small private vehicles, while for bus-truck two axles, Rs 365. On the Lucknow-Kanpur highway (Nawabganj Plaza), now small private vehicles will have to pay Rs 90, while a bus-truck will have to pay Rs 295 for two axles. Similarly, on the Lucknow-Sultanpur Highway (Bara Plaza), now small private vehicles will have to pay Rs 95, while bus-truck will have to pay Rs 325 for two axles.
