Centre to bring bill to remove Congress President from Jallianwala Bagh Trust

NEW DELHI: The Union government is scheduled to introduce more than half a dozen bills in the budget session from Parliament on Monday. A total of 8 bills, including three bills of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, are to be introduced in the list. The Bills to be introduced in the Lok Sabha include the Unlawful Activities Prevention Of Laws Amendment Bill, 2019. According to sources, the organization will now be declared a terrorist as well as individuals.

The decision was approved by the Cabinet in the past. The most special among the bills to be introduced today will be on a law to remove the Congress president at the Jallianwala Bagh Memorial Trust. According to sources, the bill is aimed at making the Jallianwala Bagh Memorial Trust non-political.

At present, the Jallianwala Bagh Trust has a total of nine trustees, with the second-ranked trustee after the country's minister of management as the president of the Indian National Congress. The trust under the Ministry of Culture will amend the law with the aim of eliminating the dominance of a particular political party and making the trust non-political.
