Centre blocks channels on Telegram for indecent remarks about Hindu women

New Delhi: After the Bulli Bai app controversy involving Muslim women, the government's action has now begun against Telegram channels and some Facebook pages using abusive words for Hindu women by sharing pictures of them. IT and Telecom Minister Ashwini Vaishnav himself has informed a Twitter user in this regard.

The Union Minister has said that the Government has taken cognizance of this telegram channel and has also taken action and blocked it. According to media reports, Vaishnav said the Indian government is contacting the state police officials for action. Vaishnav gave this assurance following a complaint made by a Twitter user. The Twitter user had named a Telegram channel and said that Hindu women are being targeted through it and objectionable statements are being made by sharing their pictures on it.

Minutes after Vaishnav's assurance, Junior IT Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar said he has directed the IT Ministry to direct the Meta (Facebook) to remove pages operated against Hindu women.
