Check cryptocurrency prices today: Bitcoin, Shiba Inu, dogecoin fall over 5pc

Bitcoin's price fell below USD42,000 today after gaining over the previous two days in the cryptocurrency market. At USD41,383, the world's most popular and largest cryptocurrency was down more than 5 percent. So far in 2022,  year-to-date, the digital token is down roughly 10 percent. However, it is still more than 30 percent below its all-time high of about USD69,000 set in November of last year.

Meanwhile, according to CoinGecko, the worldwide cryptocurrency market capitalization today fell below USD2 trillion, falling more than 5 percent in the last 24 hours to USD1.91 trillion.

Ether, the cryptocurrency linked to the Ethereum blockchain and the second-largest cryptocurrency by market value, fell more than 7 percent to USD2,727. Dogecoin, on the other hand, has dropped by USD5 to USD0.12, while Shiba Inu has dropped by more than 5 percent to USD0.000025.

Other digital assets' performance deteriorated as well, with Terra, Solana, and Polygon prices rising while Avalanche, Stellar, XRP, Litecoin, Cardano, Polkadot, and Uniswap values falling by 2-8 percent in the last 24 hours.
