Chhath Puja is starting tomorrow from November 18. This fast is one of the hardest fasts to be observed with the wish of procreation and good luck of children. Preparations for this festival begin several days before. In the way every puja requires special worship material, in the same way, special materials are used in Chhath Puja. Worshipping materials of Chhath Fast: - New clothes for themselves such as suit, saree and kurta-pyjama or whatever they find comfortable. - To keep the offerings of Chhath Puja, buy two big baskets of bamboo. - Dustpan, it can be of bamboo or brass. - A glass, a lota and a plate for milk and water. - Sugarcane, which has leaves. - Coconut, containing water. - Rice, vermilion, lamp and incense. - Green plant of turmeric, radish and ginger. - Big sweet lemon (Dabh), Sharifa, Banana and Pear. - Sweet potato. - Paan and whole betel nut. - Honey. - Kumkum, Sandalwood, Agarbatti or Dhoop and camphor - Sweet. - Jaggery, wheat and rice flour. Chhath Puja and Arghya Vidhi: Take 3 big baskets of bamboo, 3 dustpan made of bamboo or brass, plate, milk and glass, rice, red vermilion, lamp, coconut, turmeric, sugarcane, spices, vegetable and sweet potato, pear, big lemon, honey, betel, whole betel nut, camphor, sandalwood and sweets like malpua, kheer-puri, semolina pudding, rice ladoos as offerings. After that place the above material in the bamboo basket. While offering arghya to the sun, keep all the offerings in the soup and light a lamp in the soup itself. Then descend into the river and offer arghya to the Lord Sun.
