In Chhattisgarh, security forces are receiving information about the Naxals' whereabouts. It is said that they are in connection with major attacks including the 2013 Jhiram Ghati killings. A team of security personnel has encountered the hideouts of top banned Naxals. According to reports, around 15 security personnel are missing following the encounter with Naxals in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district on Saturday. The sources of Chhattisgarh Police say that "A reinforcement party has rushed to the encounter spot. Bodies of two jawans have been recovered as of now," The officials further added that "23 injured have been admitted to Bijapur hospital and 7 have been admitted to a Raipur hospital." The CRPF had also stated about the encounter "In an encounter in Bijapur, Chhattisgarh, initial reports indicate that three District Reserve Guard (DRG) and two Central Reserve Police Force jawans have been martyred, one Naxal has also been killed, the encounter is on." According to information received by Chhattisgarh Director-General of Police DM Awasthi, a major gunbattle broke out in an anti-Naxal operation, on Saturday. Last month, Naxals killed a Zila Panchayat member in the Bijapur district. Barely hours before the incident, Naxals set nearly 11 vehicles on fire in the Dhanora area of Kondagaon district.
