Raipur: On Tuesday, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai praised the courage of soldiers following the killing of nine Naxals in an encounter at the Dantewada-Bijapur border area. He asserted that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has been combating Naxalism since taking office and vowed that it will soon be eradicated. The encounter, which took place in the forested region along the Dantewada-Bijapur border, resulted in the deaths of nine Naxals. CM Sai expressed his respect for the soldiers' bravery and reiterated the BJP’s commitment to tackling Naxalism. "The BJP has been fighting Naxalism since it came to power. Our soldiers are engaged in this battle, and we salute their bravery. With nine Naxalites killed, our forces' efforts are showing results. Naxalism is diminishing and will soon be eliminated," CM Sai stated to ANI. In a post on X, the Chief Minister further emphasized that the government's fight against Naxalism will persist until it is completely eradicated. "So far, nine Naxalites have been reported killed in an encounter involving a joint team of DRG and CRPF in the border area of Dantewada and Bijapur districts. Additionally, 13 active Maoists have been arrested by security forces in Bijapur district. This is a significant success for our forces. I extend my salute and congratulations to all involved in this operation. Our fight against Naxalism will continue until it is eradicated," he wrote. Chhattisgarh Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Vijay Sharma added that the Bastar region is progressing towards peace and development. "This operation, conducted jointly by the DRG and CRPF, resulted in the deaths of nine Naxalites in Bijapur and Dantewada. This showcases the strength of our soldiers, and the entire Bastar region is advancing towards peace and development," Sharma said. IG Bastar P. Sundarraj reported that numerous Naxals have also surrendered. "Based on intelligence about Naxal presence at the Dantewada-Bijapur border, teams were deployed. An encounter occurred at 10:30 am between the security forces and Naxals, leading to the recovery of nine Naxal bodies and arms. Search operations are ongoing. In the monsoon of 2024, over 35 Maoists have been killed in the past 2-3 months, with numerous arrests and surrenders resulting from these actions," IG Sundarraj explained. The search operation began earlier on Tuesday when a joint police team responded to information about Maoist activity in the border area of Dantewada and Bijapur districts, leading to the encounter that started at 10:30 am.
