New Delhi: Amid fears of the third wave of corona and rising cases in India of omicron, the new form of infection, PM Narendra Modi on Saturday announced that a vaccination drive for adolescents between the ages of 15 and 18 will be launched from January 3 next year. He also said that from January 10, vaccine supplements will be introduced as a precautionary measure to personnel deployed on the health and advance front, people above the age of 60 years suffering from other serious diseases on the advice of doctors. However, he did not mention the "booster dose", calling it a "precautionary dose". The PM said the world's first DNA-based vaccine against nasal vaccines and corona will also be launched in India soon. The PM made the announcement in his address to the nation. Modi urged the countrymen to avoid any rumors and be vigilant with the new form of the corona, Omicron, amid preparations for Christmas and new year arrivals. The PM underlined that he is sharing important decisions with the people of the country on Christmas Eve. "Children between the ages of 15 and 18 will now start vaccination in the country for them," he said. It will be launched on January 3 in 2022." He said the decision will not only strengthen the country's fight against corona infection but also reduce the concerns of children going to schools and colleges and their parents. "We have all experienced that corona warriors, healthcare, and front workers have contributed immensely to keeping the country safe in this fight. They still spend a lot of their time serving corona infection patients," Modi said, so with a precautionary measure, the government has decided that health workers and frontline personnel will be given a 'precautionary dose' of vaccine from January 10. Recalling the contribution of health workers and front personnel in the fight against corona, the PM said he played a big role in keeping the country safe. PM Modi also announced, "For citizens above the age of 60 years of age suffering from other serious diseases, the option of precaution dose of the vaccine will also be available to them on the advice of their doctors. It will also be available from January 10."
