Christmas at the Supreme Court: CJI Chandrachud's Touching Tribute to Border Protectors

New Delhi: Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, during the Christmas Day program at the Supreme Court, paid tribute to the four security personnel who lost their lives in a recent encounter with terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir. He emphasized the importance of remembering soldiers on the borders, spending cold mornings to protect the country, especially during Christmas celebrations.

"We lost four members of our armed forces a few days ago. So as we celebrate Christmas, let us not forget those on the borders who are spending these cold mornings protecting us and our nation. When we sing, we also sing for them in celebration," Chief Justice Chandrachud stated. He highlighted the fortunate ability to celebrate with families because of the dedication of these individuals. At the event attended by senior judges, Justice Sanjeev Khanna, and Justice Ahsanuddin Amanullah, Chief Justice Chandrachud further expressed gratitude and solidarity by singing Christmas carols. The recent incident occurred during a gunfight with terrorists in Rajouri district, resulting in the loss of four soldiers and injuries to three others.

Rajouri has witnessed multiple attacks in recent times, making it a challenging area for the armed forces. Last month, five soldiers were killed in action during an anti-terror operation in Rajouri. The region has experienced several significant attacks on the army over the past few years, with a total of ten soldiers killed in twin attacks in April and May last year. More than 35 soldiers have lost their lives in anti-terror operations in the Rajouri-Poonch region over the past two years.
