Rajasthan CM says Assam-Mizoram border dispute is a matter of grave concern

Jaipur: Political turmoil in the country has been on the rise for some time now, while Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot expressed concern over the ongoing border dispute between Mizoram and Assam. Gehlot tweeted that "the conflict between Assam and Mizoram is a serious case. For the first time in the history of India, a state has issued a travel advisory to its residents not to travel to another state.”

He said the FIR lodged against Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma and four senior officers of state police and two more officers by Mizoram police caused deep disappointment to the minister. The NDA Government should also take the people into confidence as to why such a situation suddenly arose after the home minister's visit.

Minister said that the Union Government should resolve the border issue at the earliest through interaction between political parties and NGOs. He said that on July 26, the border dispute between the two states reached its peak and there was a fierce encounter between the armies of the two states in which five police personnel and one civilian were killed. Amidst the rift between the two states, Mizoram police had recently opened fire on a team of Assam officials. An injured policeman was later killed in a border dispute, taking the total number of policemen killed to 6.
