Kamal Nath and Scindia to meet Sonia Gandhi today

Bhopal: In the midst of a furore over the post of Congress president in Madhya Pradesh, Congress party's interim president Sonia Gandhi on Thursday called the state's CM Kamal Nath and the party's national general secretary Jyotiraditya Scindia to Delhi. It is being told that both these leaders will have a meeting with Sonia Gandhi and the discussion on the new state president will be held.

According to sources, Sonia wants Kamal Nath and Jyotiraditya Scindia to agree to appoint a new president. Earlier on September 10, Scindia was scheduled to meet Sonia Gandhi, but the meeting was cancelled due to some reason. Scindia himself is also involved in the race for the post of state president, but veteran Congress leader Digvijay Singh is openly opposing him.

Kamal Nath also wants a tribal leader to be appointed as the state president in his place. The Madhya Pradesh Congress has been fiercely contested over the president of the state Congress unit and fierce rhetoric against each other continues. At the end of last year, Scindia was in the race for the post of CM, when the Congress defeated the BJP and won the assembly elections. However, the then Congress President Rahul Gandhi made Kamal Nath as CM of the state.
