Bhopal: Chief Ministers of several states have appealed to the central government to take proactive steps with higher allocation in the budget to promote natural farming. In the same episode, Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan has announced to start natural farming in 5,200 villages in the state from June. He said the government will provide rs 900 per month to the farmers to take care of the indigenous cows in the state. Speaking at a national workshop on innovative farming on Monday, the CM said that the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides has increased to increase the production of various crops. Due to the excessive use of the same chemical fertilizers, the 'health' of the soil has deteriorated, which needs to be stopped. The CM said that the central government gives Rs 1.8 lakh crore to farmers for fertilizer subsidy and similarly, farmers should be given subsidy to promote natural farming. Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that the use of chemical fertilizers in the Green Revolution has met the shortage of foodgrains, but now it is having deadly consequences. With the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides, the surface of the earth is becoming harsh and prone to human disease. Its use needs to be controlled, which is possible only through natural farming. He said that if mother earth is to be protected from chemical fertilizers and pesticides and to keep the earth fit for living and producing food grains for generations to come, then natural farming has to be adopted. In Madhya Pradesh, the Natural Agriculture Development Board has been constituted to promote natural farming. The State Government is taking several steps to create an environment up to the village level to adopt natural farming and to help the farmers in this regard. Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that there are 52 districts in Madhya Pradesh. Initially, special activities will be conducted in 100 villages of each district to encourage natural farming. The current kharif crop will start natural farming activities in 5,200 villages of the state. Workshops will be organized in the state for environment-building. He said that so far 1 lakh 65 thousand annadatas of the state have expressed interest in natural farming. Natural farming will be encouraged on both sides of Narmada ji.
