Lucknow: The first phase of polling for assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh is scheduled to be held on February 10. CM Yogi Adityanath is contesting from Gorakhpur city seat, while Samajwadi Party president and former CM Akhilesh Yadav are in the fray from Karhal seat. Interestingly, both Yogi and Akhilesh are contesting the assembly elections for the first time. Both the leaders have so far contested the Lok Sabha and legislative council elections.
Both Akhilesh and Yogi Adityanath have filed their nominations from their respective seats. Both have given information about their assets and criminal cases in affidavits. In the affidavits, Yogi has shown his assets at Rs 1.54 crore and Akhilesh at Rs 40.14 crore. At the same time, the yogi does not have a single criminal case, but Akhilesh has 3 cases registered against him. Yogi Adityanath's assets have increased by nearly Rs 60 lakh during his tenure as CM. In terms of percentage, CM Yogi's wealth has increased by more than 61 per cent. At the time of the 2017 Legislative Council elections, Yogi had stated his assets as Rs 95.98 lakh.
At the same time, Akhilesh Yadav was cm from 2012 to 2017. In 2012, Akhilesh had contested the legislative council elections. At that time, his assets were worth Rs 8.84 crore. Akhilesh then contested the Lok Sabha elections from the Azamgarh seat in 2019. At that time, he had stated his assets as Rs 37.78 crore.
