Coal companies can now sell coal via e-auction

New Delhi: Officials in New Delhi have approved non-linkage coal companies selling through Coal India Limited or Singarani Collieries Company Limited e-auction windows (SCCL).

The e-auction will cater to all sectors, namely power and non-regulated (NRS), including traders and coal will be offered through this auction instead of the current system of sector-specific auctions.

In the single e-auction window, coal will be offered in Rail transport mode by default. According to a press release, consumers can transport coal via road or other modes at no additional cost or discount to coal companies.

Long-term coal allotment by CIL/SCCL to their own gasification plants is allowed at prices set by the coal company. However, coal companies must pay taxes, duties, and royalties on the notified coal prices.
