Ex-Minister Dilip Ray awarded 3-year jail term in Coal Scam

New Delhi: A special court of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has sentenced former Union Minister Dilip Ray to 3 years in prison while hearing in the coal scam case. Along with this, the other two convicts related to the scam have also been sentenced to three years in jail. Along with this, a fine of Rs 10 lakh has also been imposed on all three. Please tell that Dilip Ray was the Minister of State for Coal in the former Atal Bihari Vajpayee government.

It is worth mentioning that the special court had recently convicted Dilip Ray in a case related to the coal scam. His case related to irregularities in allocation of Jharkhand coal block in 1999. Special Justice Bharat Parashar found Dilip Ray guilty under the Prevention of Corruption Act, while others were found guilty of cheating and conspiracy.

Apart from Dilip Ray, the CBI special court also convicted two senior officials of the coal ministry, Pradeep Kumar Banerjee and Nitya Nand Gautam, Castron Technologies Limited (CTL), its directors Mahendra Kumar Aggarwal and Castron Mining Ltd (CML). . The court has imposed a fine of Rs 60 lakh on CTL and Rs 10 lakh on CML.
