Singapore becomes the first country to ban the influenza vaccine

South Korea has reported the death of 48 people due to two influenza vaccine and followed the announcement Singapore has temporarily halted those two influenza vaccines usage as a precautionary measure. The country becomes the first country in the world to publicly announce a halt of the vaccines' usage. South Korea has informed that it will carry on with the state-run vaccination programme as they found no direct link between the deaths and the shots.

In Singapore, there are no reports of death associated with influenza vaccination till date, but the decision to halt the use of SKYCellflu Quadrivalent and VaxigripTetra was precautionary, the health ministry and the Health Sciences Authority (HAS) said in a statement late on Sunday. The HAS said it is in touch with the South Korean authorities for further information as they keen to determine if the deaths are related to influenza vaccinations. 

South Korea fastens its testing process in the wake of corona cases

South Korea's SK Bioscience is manufacturing the SKYCellflu Quadrivalent and locally distributing by AJ Biologics. The VaxigripTetra is manufactured by Sanofi and locally distributed by Sanofi Aventis. The other two influenza vaccine brought inside Singapore for the Northern Hemisphere 2020/21 influenza season will be continued for the usage, Singapore health authorities said.
