Companion mode for WhatsApp will let you connect more devices to your existing account

USA: Companion mode for WhatsApp will let you connect more devices to your existing account. The new function is currently restricted to the Android beta channel, though.

Once you've connected a secondary device, you can access your WhatsApp conversations and history from that device even if your primary smartphone isn't online.

The newest companion mode feature for WhatsApp is sure to significantly improve user experience. The app, which is owned by Meta, reportedly began working on the feature in November of last year and is now reportedly testing it on the beta channel. Users are already able to access their accounts from multiple devices using apps like Telegram.

Your chat history will sync between all of the connected devices as soon as you link your WhatsApp account to a new Android device. Keep in mind that since the feature is not yet available in the iOS beta version, the secondary device can only be an Android smartphone or tablet. All of your calls and messages will also be end-to-end encrypted.

You can connect up to four devices simultaneously, allowing you to connect multiple Android smartphones to your primary WhatsApp account. Some features, like managing broadcast lists and posting statuses from connected devices, might be inaccessible to you. It's also advised that you make a backup of your chats on your main device.

Make sure WhatsApp is installed on your secondary device and is the most recent beta. On this phone, there should be a "Link a device" option. Go to Settings > Linked Devices on your primary smartphone. Scan the QR code that can be seen on the backup phone. Your conversation history will now be transferred to the new device. All of your connected devices will receive calls and messages.
