The world's leading automobile manufacturer Mercedes-Benz India has sold 2948 units in the first half of the year 2020 i.e. January to June. Due to this, the company had sold 9915 units at the same time of 2019. Due to Covid 19, only sales have not been affected. Rather, construction at the company's Chakan plant has also been affected. Mumbai and Pune are the two such districts of Maharashtra, the most corona virus positive cases have been seen. It should be noted that Martin Schwenk, managing director and CEO of Mercedes-Benz India stated that, "We remain cautiously optimistic, as we gradually increase our sales amidst the prevailing market challenges arising from Corona and we witness a slow move and expect the trend to gain momentum. But, the recovery will be slow and we are expecting in today. The sentiments of the users will go ahead, however challenging the market situation. The first half has led to huge sales challenges due to the run-out of some major BS4 volume models and Covid-19 related restrictions. " According to the company, 57% of the SUV has been sold in the month of June. The recently introduced Mercedes-Benz GLS has also accounted for 22% of the total sales. Models such as the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, E-Class and GLC continue to be the dominant volume drivers. The company is now going to introduce its new Mercedes-Benz GLA and A-Class limousine in the second half.
