There was a buzz that OnePlus is working on a smartwatch for a long time. Now the company's CEO Pete Lau has himself confirmed that the smartwatch is in development and will release in future. Lau shared the information regarding smartwatch in an interview with Input. He said that the company is working with Google to try to improve the connectivity between the Wear OS ecosystem, Android TV, and Android smartphones to create this ability for better device interoperability across the ecosystems. However, Lau did not reveal many details about the watch but he noted, “This has been something looked at very positively from Google's side as well, so this is the direction that we're trying to develop." OnePlus had recently teased the arrival of the smartwatch and hinted that it may hit the market soon. But, since then the company has not said anything on the plans of releasing its smartwatch. Now, for the first time, OnePlus' CEO Pete Lau has revealed that the watch is in the works. The Chinese company has been launching products back to back in different categories, including TVs, wireless earphones and mid-range smartphones. Perhaps, its time for OnePlus to step into the wearable segment in India, and introduce its first smartwatch in the market.
