Amritsar: The Congress on Saturday released its first list of 86 candidates for the upcoming Assembly elections in Punjab. State CM Charanjit Singh Chunni has been fielded from Chamkaur Sahib while Punjab Congress unit president Navjot Singh Sidhu has been given ticket for assembly elections from Amritsar East. With this, Congress has fielded state deputy CM Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa from the Dera Baba Nanak seat. On the other hand, Malvika Sood, who recently suppressed the Congress, will contest from Moga on a Congress ticket. Malvika Sood is the sister of Bollywood actor Sonu Sood. Punjab will go to the polls in one phase. All the 117 seats in the state will go to the polls on February 14. The counting of votes will take place on March 10. Candidates have also been allowed to file nominations online through the Suvidha app this time. There are also reports of a tug of war between CM Channi and Sidhu in the state. While Sidhu is reportedly seeking to declare himself as the CM candidate, Congress is trying to contest Channi on CM's face.
