New Delhi: Congress now appears to be divided into two factions over the historic decision taken by the Modi government to remove Section 370 and Article 35A from Jammu and Kashmir. While some Congress leaders have opposed it, many are showing support for it. After senior Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia, now a veteran Congress leader and former Minister of State for Defence Suresh Pachauri has also supported the government's decision to remove 370 from Kashmir. Though he has questioned the process, he has described it as a decision of the country's interest. On the removal of Section 370 granting special status to Jammu and Kashmir, Suresh Pachauri said, "The decision of the Modi government is an occasional decision. However, the process of removing this section is incorrect. Sections 370 and 35A were removed from the former CM of the Valley, which was wrong and undemocratic.' Before Suresh Pachauri, Jyotiraditya Scindia also supported the government's decision. Appreciating the Modi government's decision, Scindia said, "This decision has been taken in the national interest and we fully support the decision. I support the steps taken by the Government on Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh and their full integration in India. It would have been better if the constitutional process was followed fully, and no questions would have arisen. Yet the decision has been taken in the interest of the nation and I support it," he said.
